Still Working
May 10, 2008
Unfortunately, the site preparation is taking much longer than first anticipated, but we are still working diligently on it. I am hoping to have something up on the site, with links to all of the DC Evo downloads by the end of May, or possibly the first few weeks of June.
We have a lot of our covers cataloged, and much of the content is in place. It is now mostly a matter of reorganizing our downloads and making sure that the links all lead to the right places.
Hopefully, once we officially unveil the new site, we'll have at least one new image to share with you, too. We should also have quite a few new covers and possibly some new screenshots, too.
Again, thank you for your continuing patience, and please remember that our forums are always open.
DCEmulation Has Moved
April 05, 2008
I realize I'm a little late to the party in posting this news, as it actually took place about two weeks ago. However, I just want to let everyone know that might have noticed DCEmulation has disappeared, that it has actually moved to http://dcemulation.org/
I've never been a big fan of 007cheater, and certainly have no complaints about DCEmulation starting up again at a new address, out from under his shadow.
However, from what I've been able to ascertain, |darc| copied the content from the old location to the new location, and then deleted the entire contents of the old DCEmulation server.
If you'd like to read both sides of the story (be forewarned that both sides are extremely biased), you can view them in the following locations:
BTW - Cheater has restored a three-year-old backup of the old DCEmulation Web site at the original address.
Again, though, the DCEmulation Web site, forums and the majority of the community have moved to http://www.dcemulation.org/. That is where you should go in order to find information about Dreamcast emulation.
DC Evolution is officially supporting dcemulation.org.
New boards on a new server
April 04, 2008
I am extremely happy to announce that we have successfully moved the DreamZone boards to our new server and transferred the dreamzoneboards.com domain name.
In addition, we have upgraded the boards to the latest public release of YaBB.
Hopefully, these changes and upgrades will permanently eliminate the "CGI Server Limit Reached" error that so many of us have received over the last year or so.
If you notice any problems or bugs in the new boards, please be sure to report them. Thank you very much.
Forum Move and Upgrades
April 01, 2008
This weekend (starting Friday), I will hopefully be working on the forums. I intend to move the forums to our new server and will upgrade to the latest service pack release of YaBB at the same time.
Therefore, for most of the day Friday, and possibly part of the day Saturday, these forums will most likely be unavailable.
Hopefully, however, once I get the forums moved and upgraded, we will have seen the last of the dreaded "CGI Limit" error that keeps popping up on this Web server.
The forum address will remain the same, so there will be no need to change your bookmarks. Once I re-open the boards, the address will still be http://www.dreamzoneboards.com/
Thank you.
More Server Issues
March 13, 2008
Unfortunately, a collection of problems has delayed the unveiling of our completed new Web site a while longer than we anticipated. We are still experiencing serious issues with the Web server on which DC Evolution and its network sites are hosted. To combat this problem, we have purchased a new server package and have begun the process of moving our network sites to the new server. If the new server works well enough, we will eventually move DC Evolution to the new server, as well.
In addition, I have had no Internet connectivity at home for almost a month. Most likely, it will still not be restored until near the end of this month.
Finally, a minor bug within the developers' beta release of CAGCMS, which is the content management system we are using as the backend of the new Web site, has temporarily stopped us in our tracks regarding adding new content to the site. As soon as my Internet connectivity is restored, I will fix the bug in the software and we will begin rolling toward the new Web site again.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience. We will be back! I promise you that.

Site Content Being Populated
February 03, 2008
This is just a quick post to let everyone know that we are diligently working on populating the DC Evolution Web site.
We have developed a solid outline of the way we want the new Web site to be organized and have begun populating a private development copy of the Web site with the appropriate content.
Once we have got enough content populated to make things worthwhile, we will be porting that content over to this server and making it publicly available.
We appreciate your patience in this trying situation, and apologize for any inconvenience. Again, we continue to look forward to serving the Dreamcast community in ways never imagined, and we hope you will enjoy the new direction our Web site is taking.
Thank you all for your continued support.
DC Evolution Web Site Update
January 10, 2008
Unfortunately, the DC Evolution Web site was attacked by a malicious hacker which caused Netfirms to suspend our hosting account.
Because we're not certain where the security hole exists, we have pulled down the entire DC Evolution Web site and are diligently working on redeveloping it from the ground up.
For the time being, this front page and the DreamZone forums are the only thing that will be accessible to the public. We will work as hard as possible to restore all of the DC Evolution content, and to improve the user experience on our site.
We have installed a private developer's beta copy of CAGCMS to use as the backbone of the Web site. Hopefully, once we clean up the server and get this content management system up and running, we will have a more secure, friendly and efficient Web site for all of our users.
We appreciate all of your patience and understanding and hope that we will be able to continue bringing you high quality compilations for your Dreamcast for years to come.
